How to Update an ASUS BIOS

You can update the BIOS of your ASUS computer if you want your computer to support new CPU and a larger memory, or if you want to fix any ongoing bugs and known issues. The BIOS on your ASUS can be updated at any time using the EasyFlash utility, and does not require the use of any additional software.

Steps

    Go to the official downloads page for ASUS products at http://support.asus.com/download/options.aspx?SLanguage=en.

    Select the model of your ASUS computer.

    Click on “confirm” to access all downloads and updates for your ASUS model.

    Click on “BIOS” to see a list of available BIOS updates.

    Select the option to download the BIOS update to the C:/ drive root directory of your computer.
    • If you are downloading the BIOS update from an alternate computer, download the update to a USB flash drive, then insert the flash drive into your ASUS computer.

    Power off your ASUS computer.

    Verify that your ASUS computer is connected to a power source.

    Power on your ASUS computer, and press F4 repeatedly when the ASUS logo displays on-screen. This action will allow you to access the EasyFlash interface.

    Press F2 to access the BIOS menu.

    Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to highlight the “Advanced” tab.

    Highlight “Start EasyFlash,” then press Enter.

    Highlight the C:/ drive, or the partition you want updated, then press Enter.

    Highlight “Yes” when asked if you want to update the BIOS, then press Enter.

    Select “OK” to begin the update process. Your computer will run the BIOS update.

    Wait for EasyFlash to update your BIOS. The process may take up to several minutes, and your computer will automatically restart when complete.[1]

Tips

  • Back up all personal data on your ASUS computer prior to updating the BIOS. Performing the update could result in potential data loss.
  • In most cases, your ASUS BIOS will update automatically as long as you have your computer configured to run routine Windows updates as they become available through Microsoft.[2]
